Principal's Message:
Parents, students and community members of Travis Early College High School,
As we approach the end of the first six weeks, I wanted to take the time to reflect on a great start to the school year. I thought of different ways to explain how our students are focused, working hard and ready for any challenges, but I decided to explain their dedication in the words of a visitor we had last week. "I have visited hundreds of schools and talked to thousands of kids and I can always tell how great a school is by the feel I get when I walk in. From the moment we walked through the front doors, I could tell that Travis had a culture of care and learning. My favorite part was visiting the TAFE program for future teachers, until I walked into the TRiLab (makerspace). I was so excited about blending learning and hands on approaches to solving community issues, but then we sat in on a social emotional lesson. The students in the circle spoke honestly about their fears as well as their aspirations. Wow! What an experience. Travis is an amazing place and I am lucky to have visited." I could not say it better myself. Our visitors came from Chicago, San Diego, Denver and 10 other cities. They were here to learn how we are so successful. It is simple. We are an amazing school, with amazing students, an amazing staff and amazing parents. Thank you for all of your support. Thank you, Ty J. Davidson Travis ECHS Vertical Team - Staff Development/Student Holiday
This Friday, September 29th, the Travis ECHS Vertical Team will have its first Staff Development/Student Holiday. Students will not attend classes. Grab and Go Breakfast is available from 8:30 AM to 9:00 AM in the cafeteria. Parent Connect

In addition, parents can email teachers and set notification alerts if they want to receive emails when their child has been marked absent or has a missing assignment. You can set up your account by going to https://www.austinisd.org/technology/parents-guardians/cloud or calling 512-414-9187. All students should have received their laptops. Students who have not receive their laptop still have the opportunity to check one out. There is a brochure and permission form to sign in order to get your free laptop.
Please go to www.austinisd.org and search for the everyone to 1 document. Each campus has a campus support center. Teachers or Librarian will know how to direct you when assistance is needed. Phone support is also available between the hours of 6:30AM and 5:00PM. Help desk (512) 414-8320 Beyond the hours of technical support, an automated phone system will create a voice ticket. Travis ECHS Vertical Team - Staff Development/Student Holidays
Austin ISD is designated as a Texas Education Agency District of Innovation (DOI), which allows AISD schools to adjust their schedules and calendars to meet the needs of the school community. AISD was recently granted District of Innovation Status from TEA, which allows campuses one option of requesting changes to the school calendar to increase teacher staff development and planning time during the school year. We submitted our plan to become a DOI Vertical Team and were approved to begin this plan for the 2017-2018 School Year.
We will be adding four additional Professional Development Days to the 2017-2018 School Calendar for the Travis ECHS Vertical Team Schools.
These dates are:
Friday, September 29
Monday, December 18
Tuesday, December 19
Wednesday, January 3
Students will not attend school on the above dates.
The cafeteria will be open on these days.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided for students.
Staff must still report to campus for professional development.
Please contact your student's campus for more information.
